My thoughts (By J. Eginton)

About Me

I am Australian equities analyst who has recently moved to London with a keen interest in all things market, sport and politics related. My career started as a cadet at KPMG in 2005. From audit, I realised my passion lay elsewhere and was fortunate enough to gain an internship at Tyndall (now Nikko AM) in Sydney in 2007. On completion of my university degree in 2009, I moved into a full time role under the tutelage of the former Deputy Head of Equities at Tyndall in 2009. This saw me gain access to my coverage universe which included building materials, chemicals and, my now passion, the metals & mining sector as well as energy.

I completed my honours thesis in 2009 at the University of New South Wales focusing on value investing and how market cycles impact the returns to value (available at request). In addition to my Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), I am a CFA Charterholder and more recently completed a Master of Mining Engineering (Mine Management) at the University of New South Wales in 2015.

Some of my career highlights have included being appointed Head of the Commodities Group within Nikko AM globally which was a platform for the global teams within the sector to discuss the industry and impact on companies under coverage with direct reporting lines to global portfolio managers. In addition, thought pieces written at Nikko AM have been published on various investment advisor websites and, more recently, published on Barron’s Asia Best Minds. I was also the youngest equity holder in Nikko AM history.

In addition to my work interests, I have a keen interest in sport and travel. I have a strong passion for rugby. I also have a love of sailing and have competed in numerous regattas including three Sydney to Hobart Yacht races and numerous offshore races over the years. More recently I completed a journey from Sydney to London via the Trans Siberian railway through Mongolia and Russia.

I have started this site as a way to discuss ideas and share views more broadly as well as to encourage comments more generally. It is my belief that free and open discussion is key for everyone’s voice being heard. Having felt limited by the platforms that are available which suit robust discussion, I hope you find open for you and you view my posts in a thought provoking way. So I would encourage all to engage on the site in a robust and considerate way respecting all views shared.
